Position Details:

Join a highly collaborative Surgical Subspecialties team of 22 physicians and 9 Physician Assistants that prides itself on exceptional teamwork, communication, and provider autonomy. This role offers extensive hands-on surgical experience as a first-assist in the OR, along with responsibility for ED and inpatient consults, admissions, rounding, discharges, and invasive bedside procedures. You'll gain exposure to a diverse case mix spanning General, Thoracic, Vascular, Colorectal, and Plastic Surgery, including robotic-assisted procedures, vascular interventions, breast reconstruction, thoracic surgery, and more. Ideal for Physician Assistants seeking diverse surgical experience, procedural autonomy, and the opportunity to practice at the top of their license.

 

Role: Open to Physician Assistants

Location: 71 Haynes St, Manchester, CT

Setting: Inpatient, surgery, surgical subspecialties

Schedule: Full-time nights with flexible schedule. Premium differentials offered.

Call schedule: No call

Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioner Role Scope:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training: Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience: 1+ years’ experience as a Physician Assistant in surgery or related setting
