NorthBay Health is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Urgent Care team in Winters, CA. This Part-Time opportunity offers the chance to make an immediate impact while serving the healthcare needs of our community.

Position Overview
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary medical team, providing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in an urgent care setting.
The APP, either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) licensed in the State of California, is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients while working collaboratively with supervising physicians and the healthcare team. Practice is guided by state regulations, established clinical protocols, and evidence-based standards of care.

This position may work across NorthBay Health Urgent Care locations throughout Napa and Solano Counties.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, physical examinations, and medical history reviews.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans appropriate to patient needs.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic services.
  • Review and communicate diagnostic results with patients and provide appropriate follow-up care.
  • Provide treatments, procedures, and interventions within scope of practice.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Counsel patients to support adherence to treatment plans and healthy lifestyle practices.

Care Coordination & Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Consult with supervising physicians regarding complex cases, diagnostic uncertainty, treatment concerns, or when requested by the patient.
  • Facilitate specialty referrals and care transitions as appropriate.
  • Identify high-risk conditions and ensure timely referral or transfer of care when urgent or emergent intervention is required.
  • Participate in team discussions, quality initiatives, and patient care reviews as needed.

Clinical Operations

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation.
  • Ensure coding and billing documentation is completed for each patient encounter.
  • Support efficient patient flow and access to care.
  • Participate in quality improvement, data collection, and outcome measurement initiatives.
  • Promote a positive patient experience through excellent customer service and communication.

Qualifications
Physician Assistant

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current California Physician Assistant license.
  • NCCPA certification and board certification.
  • Completion of a NorthBay Health internship program.

Nurse Practitioner

  • Master's degree or higher required.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, including completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current California Nurse Practitioner license.
  • National board certification through ANCC, AANP, AACN, PNCB, or another recognized certifying body.

All Candidates

  • Two years of experience as an APP in a related specialty and ambulatory care preferred.   
  • Current AHA BLS/CPR certification (or equivalent).
  • Current DEA registration with Schedule II prescribing authority.
  • Current Furnishing Number, if required for practice.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate patients' physical and emotional health status.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Current knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices and standards of care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and standard office technology.
  • Experience with electronic health records; Cerner Patient Health Record experience preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Compensation
Physician Assistant
$88.42 - $107.45 per hour
Nurse Practitioner
$97.99 - $119.16 per hour
Compensation is determined based on directly related experience. Maximum rates reflect providers with 20 or more years of applicable NP or PA experience.
