Medical Optometrist | Hartford, CT

Solinsky EyeCare is seeking a dedicated Medical Optometrist to join our growing, multidisciplinary team in the Hartford area. This is an excellent opportunity for an optometrist who enjoys medically oriented, collaborative care and wants to play an important role in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. 

The position focuses on comprehensive eye health, ocular disease management, specialty contact lenses, and patient education, rather than routine refraction-only care. The primary location will be in the Hartford area, with approximately 1–2 days per week at another nearby Solinsky EyeCare location as needed. 

The Opportunity 

You will care for a diverse patient population while collaborating closely with experienced ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, and clinical staff. Solinsky EyeCare offers comprehensive services including cataract, glaucoma, retina, eyelid, dry-eye, contact lens, and general eye care. 

The practice utilizes advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, including TearLab, dry-eye and meibomian gland therapies, and advanced cataract-surgery technology. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Perform comprehensive medical eye examinations and diagnose and manage ocular disease. 

• Evaluate and treat conditions including glaucoma, dry eye, ocular surface disease, cataracts, and diabetic eye disease. 

• Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans. 

• Provide specialty and medically necessary contact lens services when appropriate. 

• Collaborate with ophthalmologists on surgical, subspecialty, and complex medical cases. 

• Educate patients on treatment, prevention, and long-term eye health. 

• Participate in dry-eye and ocular surface disease diagnosis and management. 

• Maintain accurate medical records and follow clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards. 

• Stay current with advances in optometry, ocular disease, and diagnostic technology. 

• Provide care at another nearby Solinsky EyeCare location approximately 1–2 days per week as needed. 

Qualifications 

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited program. 

• Active or eligible Connecticut optometry license. 

• Strong interest or experience in medical optometry and ocular disease management. 

• Comfortable working in a medically focused, ophthalmology-based environment. 

• Experience or interest in dry eye, ocular surface disease, glaucoma, and specialty/medically necessary contact lenses preferred. 

• Excellent communication and patient-education skills. 

• Commitment to compassionate, individualized care. 

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
