What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive management of adult cardiac surgery patients, including pre- and post-operative care.
- Support providers with patient assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning for complex cardiac cases such as CABG, valve repairs, aortic surgeries, and arrhythmia management.
- Proficiently manage procedures like pacemakers, chest tube placements, wound care, and surgical drain removal.
- Conduct daily patient evaluations, monitor clinical data, and coordinate discharge planning.
- Recognize signs of clinical deterioration, escalate care appropriately, and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
What You Need
- Valid Missouri license
- BLS & ACLS certifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a high-acuity/trauma Level I environment
- Proficiency in managing complex cardiac surgery patients, including elective and emergency care
- Strong communication, professionalism, and clinical judgment skills
About the Assignment
This role is based in a high-acuity Cardiac Surgery Stepdown unit in a prominent hospital in St. Louis. The APP will function as an integral part of the cardiac surgery team, providing expert inpatient management and collaborating closely with surgeons, hospitalists, and other specialists. The position emphasizes autonomous practice with support, handling complex adult cardiac cases, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
