NP/PA NICU Opportunity in Greenville, NC

ECU Health Medical Center and The Maynard Children’s Hospital, located in Greenville, North Carolina, are seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care or Physician Assistant to provide care to preterm and term newborn infants in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

New Neonatal Nurse Practitioners & Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care are encouraged to apply. Physician Assistant applicants must have two years of NICU and/or Newborn experience.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a level IV center, consists of 52 NICU Beds and a 20-bed step down unit. ECU Health Children’s Hospital is the only tertiary facility in eastern North Carolina designed especially for pediatric patients and includes ECMO and pediatric surgery programs.

  • Opportunity to collaborate with the attending physician to establish plan of care
  • High level of autonomy
  • Procedural skills will include intubation; umbilical venous catheter and umbilical arterial catheter placement; surfactant administration; needle decompression; chest tube insertion and removal; peripheral arterial puncture and cannulation; PICC insertion; ventricular reservoir tap; and lumbar puncture
  • Standard schedule: (12)12-hour shifts every 28 days. Experienced APPs may have the option of (14) 12-hour shifts or (7) 24-hour shifts every 28 days
  • Potential opportunity for academic responsibilities
  • Ability to work with advanced technology
  • Participation in teaching and rounds for the Brody School of Medicine residents on neonatal service
  • Dedicated children’s transport team

Job Requirements include:

  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care, or Physician Assistant
  • NC RN licensure & NC Nurse Practitioner or NC licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • National Board Certification as a Neonatal NP, Pediatric NP-Acute Care, or as PA required, including maintenance
  • 2+ years of experience in health care setting
  • Applicants will be required to have BLS certification from The American Heart Association

Maynard Children's Hospital, a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, is located on the campus of ECU Health Medical Center. The 206,499-square-foot facility includes a 72-bed NICU – the second largest in the state – a 12-bed PICU and 42 general/intermediate pediatric beds.
