Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care within our ENT and allergy clinics. This position provides comprehensive support in case management, follow-up care, and patient communication. Working under moderate supervision, the APP evaluates and manages patients with endocrine and ENT related conditions, while collaborating closely with clinic physician in complex cases to ensure optimal outcomes. This dedicated advanced practice provider will support the endocrine ENT practice, with a secondary general ENT patient load. Emphasis on thyroid and parathyroid disease.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including interval histories and assessments for follow-up visits.
  • Perform focused physical examinations of the head, neck, ears, nose, throat, chest, and skin as clinically appropriate.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring all care is documented clearly and communicated effectively with patients.
  • Provide clinical assessments and formulate differential diagnoses related to ENT, allergy, and endocrine conditions.
  • Prescribe medications within prescriptive authority, including antihistamines, decongestants, mucolytics, bronchodilators, inhaled and oral steroids, and antibiotics.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, ultrasounds, radiology, CT scans, and audiograms.
  • Some first assist time in the operating room alongside physicians on endocrine cases.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians for consultation in complex or difficult cases, whether in person or by phone.
  • Participate in after-hours call coverage from home with physician backup available as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the state of practice.
  • Certification through an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or outpatient setting, preferably in ENT, endocrinology, head and neck oncology, or surgical specialty background.
  • Neck ultrasound experience is a STRONG PLUS.
  • Willingness to train in ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration is required, if not already skilled.
  • Strong clinical skills, with a focus on patient safety and quality care.
  • Eligible for hospital privileges.
