Job Requirements
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – Hematology/Medical Oncology provides comprehensive care to patients with cancer in the outpatient oncology clinic in collaboration with medical oncologists and the multidisciplinary oncology care team. The APP independently evaluates patients, develops and implements treatment plans, manages therapy-related side effects, and provides ongoing patient education and supportive care.
The APP functions as an integral member of the oncology team and supports the delivery of safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered cancer care across the continuum of treatment. Responsibilities include patient assessment, symptom management, care coordination, and survivorship or supportive care.
In addition to outpatient responsibilities, the APP may provide inpatient consult coverage when necessary, assisting oncologists with evaluation and management of hospitalized oncology patients.
The APP practices within the scope of professional licensure, national certification, institutional credentialing, and delineation of privileges in accordance with applicable state regulations and hospital policies.
