  • Supportive, collegial environment with billing, scheduling, and administrative support provided by the practice

Candidate Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered New Jersey license as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • National certification in good standing (ANCC or AANP for NP; NCCPA for PA)
  • DEA registration (or eligibility/willingness to obtain)
  • Experience in infectious disease, internal medicine, hospital medicine, or critical care strongly preferred
  • Comfortable managing complex hospitalized patients including immunocompromised conditions
  • Able to work under New Jersey's required collaborative practice/joint protocol arrangement with a supervising physician
  • Strong documentation and coding discipline — visit-level accuracy (CPT coding) directly affects incentive compensation
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within a data-informed, productivity-based pay structure

Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical (Inpatient — Primary Focus)

  • Conduct daily inpatient infectious disease follow-up visits (subsequent hospital care) at the practice's affiliated hospital(s)
  • Round on an average panel of approximately 25 hospitalized patients per day
  • Collaborate with the supervising infectious disease physician(s), hospitalists, and intensivists on diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Accurately document and code visit levels (CPT 99232 / 99233, and applicable add-on codes such as G0545) to ensure appropriate reimbursement
  • Assist with antibiotic stewardship and infection prevention/control activities in coordination with the hospital
