The Department of Emergency Medicine within the University of Missouri School of Medicine is a dynamic, rapidly expanding department with multiple opportunities to provide high-quality care to patients throughout Missouri. Our highly skilled Advanced Practice Professionals provide care in a variety of clinical settings, including MU Health Care’s Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department, several rural Community Emergency Departments, the ED Observation Unit, and the Occupational Medicine Clinic. Our mission is to deliver exceptional patient care efficiently while ensuring every patient receives compassionate, timely, and evidence-based treatment.

Responsibilities may include:

• Work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary practice to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with emergency and urgent care needs.
• Perform essential and urgent patient care functions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
• Evaluate and manage patients presenting to Emergency Medicine settings in collaboration with supervising physicians and clinical teams.
• Conduct comprehensive health assessments and demonstrate a high level of clinical autonomy in managing acute and chronic health conditions.
• Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic tests and treatment plans as appropriate.
• Perform procedures within scope of practice and departmental guidelines.
• Maintain standards of medical support services and implement policies and procedures across hospitals, departments, facilities, units, and clinics served.
• Assist in identifying patient care trends and participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Support the development and implementation of clinical practice standards, workflows, and outcome measures.
• Evaluate current research and integrate evidence-based practices into patient care as appropriate.
• Participate in department, hospital, and professional development activities.
• Complete unit- and department-specific duties as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
