Position Summary

Sinai Chicago is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Gastroenterology team at Holy Cross Hospital. The APP will provide comprehensive outpatient gastroenterology care in collaboration with supervising gastroenterologists and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.

The APP will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of gastrointestinal disorders, provide patient education, coordinate care, and support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services. Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license or Physician Assistant license.
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Current DEA registration and Illinois controlled substance license, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience preferred; Gastroenterology experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships with supervising physicians.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive outpatient evaluations and follow-up visits for patients with gastrointestinal disorders. • Obtain and document complete medical histories, perform physical examinations, and develop treatment plans. • Diagnose and manage common gastrointestinal conditions including GERD, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, liver disease, constipation, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal bleeding. • Order, interpret, and review laboratory studies, imaging, pathology reports, and diagnostic testing. • Coordinate patient care with gastroenterologists, primary care providers, surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists. • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care recommendations. • Evaluate and prepare patients for endoscopic procedures as appropriate. • Review procedure results and communicate findings and recommendations to patients. • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements. • Facilitate referrals and coordinate continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings. • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record. • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and organizational performance activities. • Support patient access initiatives and help optimize clinic efficiency and throughput.

Schedule

• Full-time outpatient clinic position. • Monday through Friday schedule. • No routine overnight responsibilities. • Limited call responsibilities, if applicable, based on departmental needs. • Typical commitment of approximately 40 clinical hours per week.

Reporting Relationship

The Gastroenterology APP reports to the Medical Director of Gastroenterology and collaborates closely with supervising Gastroenterology physicians and clinic leadership.
