Position summary:

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, the Emergency Room Tech performs work of routine difficulty and provides care for the multicultural neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This is accomplished through criteria outlined on the core competency evaluation form. It is also the responsibility of the Patient Care Technician to collect data, provide comfort measures, assist with splinting, and complete duties consistent with secretarial duties of the Emergency Department. The Emergency Room Tech is responsible for completing all duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a nursing assistant or equivalent program preferred.

Experience:

• A minimum of six (6) months’ of healthcare-related experience is preferred.
• Background as an Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, Military Medic, or similar education is preferred.

Required Licensure/Certification(s):

• EMT/Paramedic or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification preferred.
• Current verification in Basic Life Support. (If BLS verification is not current upon hire must be obtained within three (3) months of hire).
