Job Summary:
Jordan Valley Community Health Center (JVCHC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Postdoctoral Psychologist to join our Behavioral Health team. This is a full-time, training-focused position designed for a recent doctoral graduate in psychology who seeks to further develop their clinical skills in an integrated healthcare setting. The Postdoctoral Psychologist will work alongside licensed psychologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive psychological services to underserved populations, including mental health assessments, treatment planning, and therapy for individuals across the lifespan.
This role will offer hands-on experience in a diverse range of clinical settings, including primary care, pediatrics, and behavioral health, with the opportunity to develop advanced skills in psychological assessment, intervention, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. The Behavioral Health Consultant will provide brief, targeted interventions for 8-12 patients per day.
2. Screen & evaluate individuals for mental health and substance abuse disorders.
3. Brief interventions for individuals with behavioral health problems.
4. Behavioral support to assist individuals in improving health status and managing chronic illness.
5. Meet regularly with the primary care team to plan care and discuss cases.
6. Support primary care physicians/teams in identifying and behaviorally intervening with patients who could benefit from behavioral health needs within the primary care practice.
7. Provide front line interventions with first looking to manage behavioral health needs within the primary care practice.
8. Focus on managing a population of patients versus specialty care.
9. Identification of problem behavior(s), discussion of impact and decisions regarding care.
10. Develop specific and goal directed interventions with the use of monitoring forms, behavioral “prescription” and using multiple interventions simultaneously.
11. Provide educational materials, handout, and use teach back strategies tailored to patient’s specific issue.
12. Provide clear and concise feedback to Primary Care Provider, describe action plan and establish plan for follow up.
13. Promotes effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team to facilitate the Clinic’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
14. Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the Clinic’s overall mission.
15. Responsibly follows the Clinic Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
16. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
17. All other duties as assigned.
