General Surgeon (Trauma/Acute Care Surgery) – Community Practice Opportunity

The Department of Surgery and the Division of Acute Care Surgery at The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio, are seeking a General Surgeon with a strong interest in trauma and/or acute care surgery. This position is primarily based at our ACS verified Level III trauma center at our partnering hospital in Norwalk, Ohio. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in General Surgery; additional Surgical Critical Care training is preferred but not required.
We are looking for a surgeon who is passionate about trauma and emergency general surgery and who also wants the opportunity to build a robust elective community or rural surgery practice. Since 2018, MetroHealth has expanded trauma services to our partnering hospital, helping establish and grow its Level III trauma program. Our mission is to deliver excellent trauma and emergency general surgery care close to home, keeping patients within their community whenever possible.
Role Highlights
- Manage trauma activations, emergency general surgery consultations, and staff the trauma/EGS clinic.
- When not on trauma/EGS service, develop an elective practice with dedicated clinic time and block OR time.
- Access to a DaVinci robot for surgeons interested in robotic surgery.
- Strong support from an experienced team of APPs providing daytime coverage seven days a week.

MetroHealth is a major academic health system affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Our 700+ bed main campus includes an ACS verified Level I Adult Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and Level I Burn Center.
Our partnering institution in Norwalk, Ohio, is a 99?bed ACS verified Level III Adult Trauma Center with more than 1,600 trauma activations annually and nearly 130 trauma admissions. Patients requiring higher level care are seamlessly transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center.
