The Duke Department of Pediatrics invites applications for a full-time faculty position within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Ideal candidates will have an established record of accomplishment in carrying out laboratory-based research either independently or in a mentored environment. Candidates currently working in a mentored position should demonstrate evidence for increasing independence in the form of publications or successful grant applications. The successful candidate must hold an MD or MD/PhD degree, and must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. A research focus centered on critical themes in pediatric oncology is required. Areas of interest that overlap with existing expertise within the division and the Duke Cancer Institute include sarcoma, immunotherapy, and leukemia, although interest in these particular areas is not required.

Candidates will have the opportunity to work within the Duke Cancer Institute, which is a NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center that includes eight basic, clinical, and translational research programs. Over 300 clinicians and researchers from 19 clinical and basic science departments are represented in the DCI, providing a fertile environment for collaboration and clinical translation of research. In addition, the creation of secondary appointments in basic science departments is encouraged and can further foster mentoring and collaboration. The individual selected will also care for patients seen within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, which is nationally ranked as a leader in pediatric oncology care. The division includes eleven physicians who lead a multidisciplinary team in both clinical care and research activities.
