Job Description

Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician Dartmouth Health Children’s and Geisel School of Medicine The Department of Pediatrics at Dartmouth Health Children’s and The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth seeks a full-time board certified/eligible Pediatric Infectious Disease physician. The successful candidate will provide pediatric infectious disease consultation as a member of the collaborative Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) Section of Infectious Diseases and International Health (IDIH). A wealth of opportunities exists for pursuing academic interests. Dartmouth Health Children’s provides an extended system of care with primary, specialty, and advanced tertiary pediatric services, including an inpatient pediatric unit with PICU, level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and level III NICU at its flagship Children’s Hospital at DHMC (CHaD).  Dartmouth Health Children’s also operates a comprehensive ambulatory specialty center at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester, the largest city in New Hampshire, and 10 pediatric primary care medical homes across the region. Dartmouth Health Children’s is committed to addressing racism and other forms of oppression that prevent all children and adolescents from living their healthiest, happiest lives. The Section of IDIH currently has research activities in the areas of epidemiology, global health, respiratory virology and mucosal immunity, HIV and TB.  An NIH-funded Pediatric Clinical Trials Unit operates in a national consortium.  There are multiple, highly collaborative Departments, Centers and formative Clusters across Geisel and Dartmouth’s other schools with strong infectious disease-related research programs in areas such as cystic fibrosis, lung biology, bioengineering, immunology/microbiology, and health services and clinical outcomes. A campus-wide Vaccine Initiative is in planning stages. Clinical service requires no more than 25-50% effort, leaving ample time for wide-ranging academic pursuits. Dedicated resources to continuing and expanding a funded, ongoing research program in vaccines and immunology will be available. Teaching pediatric residents, infectious disease fellows, and medical students is required. Eligibility for appointment at The Geisel School of Medicine at a rank commensurate with portfolio is expected. Dartmouth Health Children’s is the pediatric service of Dartmouth Health, an integrated academic healthcare delivery system for northern New England anchored by DHMC in Lebanon, NH. DHMC is recognized by US News & World Report as the #1 Hospital in New Hampshire and is home to the Dartmouth Cancer Center (a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center), the renowned Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, and CHaD. Physicians at Dartmouth Health practice high-level academic medicine within a serene living environment. Lebanon is part of the Upper Connecticut River Valley, home to Dartmouth College and its abundant cultural and enrichment activities. With destinations like Boston, New York, Montreal, the seacoast and ski country within easy driving distance, this is the ideal place to work, live, and play.
