Lead Heart Transplant, VAD and Advanced Heart Failure Section Chief at Major Academic Medical Center!

The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Wake Forest University School of Medicine is seeking candidates for a Section Chief role to lead the section of Heart Transplant, VAD, and Advanced Heart Failure.

We are in search of a candidate who combines proven leadership and administrative skills with an outstanding record of academic and clinical accomplishment, dedication to excellence in clinical, research, and/or teaching, and the creative vision to help shape the future of a dynamic section and growing programs.

 

As Section Chief, we expect the successful candidate to have experience and vision to grow the Heart Transplant and VAD program in the Wake Forest and surrounding markets. This is an outstanding opportunity to further develop a well-established program and lead the Section towards success in clinical care, education and academics. The section currently comprises of 5 faculty members and 7 advanced practice providers, with ongoing recruitment for additional providers. The Section Chief will be responsible for Transplant, VAD and Advanced Heart Failure services, sharing all clinical aspects, educational efforts, program development and quality improvement initiatives associated with the service. Section members participate in shared inpatient service and call, outpatient clinic and procedures.

To be considered qualified, candidates must be:

  • MD/DO
  • Board Certified in relevant fields
  • Fellowship trained in Cardiovascular Medicine and transplant, VAD and Advanced Heart Failure
  • Successful record of clinical and service excellence, research experience, and graduate medical education or practice at a high volume Cardiac Transplant, VAD, and Advanced Heart Failure Center
  • North Carolina medical licensure or eligible
  • Leadership experience
  • Program Development experience preferred
