*Job Summary*
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic interventions for individuals with communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders. The SLP maintains accurate and timely documentation, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and supports patient and family education to promote optimal functional independence and patient-centered outcomes.
*Essential Functions*
* Conduct evaluations and assessments appropriate to age and diagnosis, including developmental, cognitive, speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
* Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals in collaboration with the patient, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team.
* Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions in a timely and appropriate manner.
* Reassess patient condition and update treatment goals and plans as needed.
* Provide patient and family education and counseling related to speech-language and swallowing needs.
* Accurately document treatment sessions, assessments, progress, and discharge plans.
* Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent and effective rehabilitation plans.
* Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Supervise clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel as applicable.
* Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.
*Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations*
* Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to speech, language, and swallowing.
* Proficient in the use of assessment tools, therapy materials, and documentation systems.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to function independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
* Familiarity with ASHA and state practice standards.
*Education*
* Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
* Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) required.
*Licenses/Certifications*
* Current licensure to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in applicable state
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within time frame required by facility policy
* Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA preferred
* VitalStim certification preferred.
*Experience*
* One (1) year of experience in a rehabilitation or acute care setting preferred.
