The University of Virginia School of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, is actively recruiting a Vascular Medicine Physician at all ranks to join our expanding Vascular Medicine section within the esteemed Cardiology Division. Qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent
  • Board-certified in Internal Medicine & sub-specialty board-certified or board-eligible in Vascular Medicine by appointment start date.
  • Experience in clinical vascular medicine and education

  • Eligible for Virginia medical licensure

 Non-Invasive Cardiologist, Preventive Cardiology Focus

Division of Cardiovascular Medicine – University of Virginia School of Medicine
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Position Overview

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks candidates for an open-rank, open-track Non-Invasive Cardiologist to join our expanding cardiology program. Rank and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications.

This position will provide comprehensive general cardiovascular services with both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, while also offering the opportunity for program leadership in Preventive Cardiology. Candidates with experience in Cardio-Obstetrics (Cardio-OB) are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the education and mentorship of cardiology fellows and medical house staff, and opportunities for clinical or translational research will be supported based on experience and interest.


Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient non-invasive cardiovascular care, including general cardiology, consults, and echocardiography interpretation.

  • Participate in the Acute Cardiology Service rotation and inpatient consults.

  •  
  • See an average of 16 clinic patients per day.

  •  
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary care across UVA Health.

  •  
  • Actively engage in the teaching mission of the Division, including fellows, residents, and medical students.

  •  
  • Optional engagement in Cardio-OB services for those with experience.

  •  
  • Participate in call responsibilities while on inpatient service weeks.


Practice Setting & Resources

  • Academic medical center practice based at UVA University Hospital.

  •  
  • EMR: Epic.

  •  
  • Collaborative team environment with cardiology faculty, APPs, fellows, and support staff.

  • Onsite access to advanced diagnostic and ancillary services.


Qualifications

Required:

  • MD or DO degree.

  •  
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited cardiology fellowship.

  •  
  • Board certification (or eligibility) in Cardiovascular Disease.

  •  
  • Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.

Preferred:

  • Training or significant experience in Preventive Cardiology.

  •  
  • Leadership experience in program development.

  •  
  • Experience in Cardio-Obstetrics (Cardio-OB).
