The Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Diseases and Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a vascular surgeon for our regional partner location at Blanchard Valley Health System.

Position Overview
Blanchard Valley Health System Cardiovascular Care is building upon the heart care services we provide by expanding our cardiology programs and services to include vascular surgery!  This is an excellent opportunity to build and grow in practice along with our interventional and noninvasive cardiologists, experienced nurse practitioners and full support team. The position offers robust medical and surgical subspecialty support, surgery tie-in dedicated OR, and experienced support staff.

Job Description

  • Provide licensed medical care including medical care including diagnosis, treatment (inclusive of surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management, and clinical research
  • Manage complex and sometimes unpredictable situations
  • Direct and provide direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Conduct ambulatory clinics; interviews, obtain and review the medical history of patients
  • Perform physical examinations to access medical or surgical needs
  • Order special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; respond to consultation requests
  • Determine, prescribe, and implement treatment plans and/or medications required; document all services and instructions provided in the medical record
  • Educate patients and promote wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials, resources, and services to patients and their families
  • Respond and maintain open communication with referring physicians
  • Ensure continuing medical educational requirements are met; participate in department, college, medical center, and university committees and other service activities
  • Perform other duties and /or call assignments as defined by the Chair or his/her designee
  • Perform surgical procedures where assigned
  • Serve as preceptor and provide bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate and graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied health medical professionals

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified or board eligible in specialization required.
  • State of Ohio and DEA licensure
  • Competency in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients
  • Practice within the established Medical Center and Physician’s standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center
