Department Overview:

The Havener Eye Institute has its primary location in the Eye and Ear Institute building near campus. We have newly constructed state-of-the-art facilities that include on-site outpatient surgical centers. Position Overview:

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking applicants for a full-time clinical or clinician-scientist faculty position. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient care, research, and education, primarily in our new OSU multi-specialty medical office buildings and surgical suites in the metro Columbus area. Participation in coverage at the VA, is also required. ____________________________________________________________________________________

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Division Director and/or Department Chair is responsible for determining the work assignments. Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Clinical services are a component of your faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee.

It is expected that the academic mission of the Department will be supported. In consultation with the Department Chair, there will be an opportunity to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment. Faculty candidates will be responsible for patient care and education, primarily in our new OSU multi-specialty medical office buildings and surgical suites in the metro Columbus area.

Service commitments will include clinical service at the OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected. Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO
  • Accredited Ophthalmology residency program
  • Board Eligible or Certified in Ophthalmology
  • Subspecialty fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases
  • Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio
  • Must support and embrace the diverse and inclusive culture of College of Medicine, the Medical Center, and the University

Compensation Package:

Salary: Commensurate with experience level, Signing Bonus, Relocation Assistance
