Medical Genetics Faculty with Leadership Development Path

Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system in western Massachusetts which consists of an academic medical center, Baystate Children’s Hospital, three community hospitals and the region’s largest multispecialty group.  Our flagship hospital, Baystate Medical Center, is home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate. 

 

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • We are seeking a Medical Genetics faculty ember with Leadership role or an early to mid-career faculty member with interest in a leadership development pathway.
  • Housed in the Dept. of Pediatrics, our Division of Medial Genetics provides genetics care for patients across the lifespan. The program includes pediatric genetics, reproductive genetics and genetic counseling, cancer genetics and genetic counseling (Family Cancer Risk program), adult genetics, and our nationally recognized lysosomal storage disorders program.
  • The Division includes an experienced team of one physician, one APP, five genetic counselors, a care coordinator and a MA.
  • Faculty appointment at UMass Chan Medical School- Baystate. Our clinical educators foster an environment of educational excellence through direction of our resident elective and lecturing to residents and med students.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • A path toward future leadership within our Genetics Division. Structured mentorship is available for a junior faculty candidate looking to grow into a Division Chief role.
  • Busy clinical practice balanced with administrative time to learn operations leadership for our inpatient consult service as well as ambulatory service at nearby Baystate Children’s Specialty Center in Springfield MA. Excellent mentorship available from our current Geneticist and Dept. Chair. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ABMS board eligibility or certification in Medical Genetics.
  • 2+ years of experience post-training with interest in management and leadership preferred. Recent fellowship graduates encouraged to apply if interested in leadership pathway.

Through this innovative program, the three institutions are partnering to strengthen the pipeline of new primary care physicians for the future in Western Massachusetts. These three institutions have also collaborated to create the Institute for Healthcare Delivery & Population Science, to generate and apply new knowledge to transform health care delivery and population health in support of Baystate Health’s strategic goals. The Institute conducts health services research projects in partnership with local, regional, and national stakeholders.
