Michigan State University, Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) is seeking applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor level to join the Division of GIM. The General Internist position will majorly be in outpatient and some inpatient clinical services. Additional responsibilities of the qualified candidate will include teaching of students and residents, scholarly activity, and administrative/committee assignments.
The GIM division represents one of the largest clinical units within the College of Human Medicine. We excel in the delivery of high-quality, culturally sensitive, patient-centered, comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare. Members of the division comprise highly talented, committed faculty with major and diverse roles across the educational spectrum in the College of Human Medicine (CHM), ranging from directing preclinical and clinical courses to directing residency programs, fellowships, and CME teaching. We are committed to medical student education through all the four years of the innovative Shared Discovery Curriculum.
Diversity in scholarship exists within the division as well. Members of the division are actively engaged in funded research in diverse areas such as health services research, health disparity, implementation science, quality improvement, medical education research, psychosocial medicine, sleep medicine, and understanding the basic mechanisms of disease. Our ability to attract external grants and contracts has grown substantially over the past several years. Division members have received external funding for the development of medical education technology in addition to NIH and Foundation grants.

It represents 340 physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, many of whom are researchers and academic professors in the College of Human Medicine, College of Osteopathic Medicine, or the College of Nursing. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis.
Physicians must possess Michigan Medical licenses, Board of Pharmacy licenses, and DEA licenses and must be board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-certified/eligible in Internal Medicine. Board-eligible candidates are expected to obtain board certification in internal medicine within one year of the hire date.
