Pediatric Nephrology Physician at Akron Children's Hospital

Akron Children’s Hospital seeks a dedicated Pediatric Nephrology Physician to join our esteemed team. The ideal candidate will have completed Pediatric Nephrology fellowship training, possess board certification in Pediatric Nephrology, and be eligible for an active medical license in Ohio.

Position Highlights

  • Full-time | Comprehensive Pediatric Nephrology Practice
  • Join a team of 3 Pediatric Nephrologists with advanced practice provider support.
  • Outpatient volume: ~60 patients/month
  • Inpatient census: ~20 patients/month
  • Dialysis oversight: Currently managing 4 dialysis patients (providers oversee their dialysis patients during the week)
  • EPIC EMR system

Call/Schedule:

  • Balanced workload - 32 patient contact hours + 8 administrative hours/week
  • Call is 1:3 weeks at a time with at-home call
  • Occasional weekend call (3 to 4 times per year)
  • Clinic hours vary from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm based on staffing and patient needs

Comprehensive Services

  • Care across the full continuum: prenatal consults to transition-to-adult nephrology.
  • Access to pre- and post-kidney transplant care; surgical procedures performed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital
  • Opportunities to teach residents and medical students from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED)
  • Participation in hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives is encouraged.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive pediatric nephrology care from prenatal consultation to transition to adult nephrology.
  • Opportunities for teaching with a residency program and medical students from Northeast Ohio University of Medicine (NEOMED)
  • Committee involvement is available for interested candidates.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Pediatric Nephrology fellowship training
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Nephrology
  • Eligible for an active medical license in Ohio
