Faculty position employed by the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, practicing in UT Health East Texas facilities. University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is searching for an experienced Emergency Medicine physician leader to serve as the inaugural Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director at its growing academic institution in Tyler, TX. This is an opportunity to spearhead the development, approval, and implementation of an Emergency Medicine Residency Program. The incoming Program Director will be integral to assisting the UT Tyler School of Medicine including the region's only Level I Trauma Center, in its mission of cultivating a new generation of physicians prepared to improve healthcare outcomes and enhance the quality of life in East Texas. The main responsibilities of the Program Director will include: •Lead and Direct the Emergency Medicine Accreditation process •Program Administration •Resident Recruitment/Selection •Resident and Faculty Supervision •Fostering a scholarly and collegial learning environment •Educational Oversight to ensure curriculum compliance meets accreditation standards •Compliance and Reporting: to ensure ACGME and other governing bodies' requirements are met •Collaboration with other departmental and physician leaders Position Highlights: •Advanced Care: UT Health Tyler, a 502-bed tertiary facility that is home to a Level II Primary Stroke Center, and the hub for UT Health East Texas EMS and AIR 1. •Team Composition: 16 Emergency Medicine Physicians and 8 Advanced Practice Providers. •Facility Details: 36 ED beds, including three exam rooms, currently staffed at 24 (12 holding beds). •Administrative Time: At least 50% of the Program Director's time will be administrative time. •Clinical Time: 4-6 shifts/month (12 hour shifts and competitive hourly rate) •Advanced Simulation Center: w/ dedicated UT Tyler SOM faculty and support staff •EMR: Epic Required Certifications/Experience: •MD or DO, with board certification by ABEM or AOBEM •Minimum of 3 years of experience as PD, APD, or core faculty Recruitment Package may include: •CME Allowance •Commencement Bonus •Medical Debt Assistance + Consultative Services by Navigate Student Loans •Relocation Allowance •Paid Malpractice Coverage •Health Benefits + Retirement Plan Potential Eligibility For Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program About UT Tyler School of Medicine: The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The University of Texas System.
