About this role: 

As a Shoulder and Elbow Orthopedic Surgeon at Intermountain Health, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience. The Musculoskeletal team at Utah Valley Hospital has 23 providers: 14 physicians and 9 APPs. Fellow physicians specialize in orthopedic sports medicine, hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty, hand & elbow, foot & ankle, hip preservation, orthopedic trauma, and non-surgical sports medicine.

Utah Valley Hospital is currently a Level II facility, with a dedicated and functioning trauma program. This position will support a busy and established shoulder/elbow practice, with a heavy shoulder case load.

 In this role, you can anticipate:

  • Practicing from Utah Valley Hospital and Utah Valley Orthopedic Clinic in Provo, Utah.
  • You can anticipate 2 days per week in clinic and 2 days per week OR surgical time; patient-preferred hours are encouraged.
  • Sub-Specialty call available to support Orthopedic Trauma Program; you may be asked to participate in call, but commitment varies by facility and need. Compensation offered for call requirement.
  • Advanced Practice Provider (APP) support in clinic and OR.
  • Local ASC with potential to participate.
  • Utah Valley team provides coverage for and has a direct referral source from local Division 1 schools, Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. This position will support the Sports Medicine team in the treatment of sports related shoulder and elbow conditions.
  • Comprehensive treatment of all shoulder and elbow conditions.
  • This position includes a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance (if applicable).

An ideal candidate will have experience in sports-related shoulder and elbow conditions, as well as have special interest in teaching/academics to support new medical school at Brigham Young University (medical school recently announced).

What you’ll bring: 

  • MD or DO degree from a fully accredited medical or osteopathic school of medicine 
  • ACGME accredited residency training in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Orthopedic Sports Medicine applicants should have significant experience in the treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions and obtain their CAQ in Sports Medicine
  • Fellowship trained in Orthopedic Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, or arthroplasty surgery with an emphasis in throwing athletes shoulder and elbow conditions
  • Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one 
  • BLS certification and DEA 
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process
