Community

Originally known by early Native Americans as Quit Qui Oc, or Crooked River, Plymouth has a rich history that began in 1845. Plymouth became incorporated in 1877 and has been growing ever since.

Many refer to Plymouth as the “Hub City” because of its central location within Sheboygan County. The nickname “Hub City” actually began in the 1860s when the Schwartz brothers had a wagon shop where they made wagons, hubs, and spokes, but were well known for their hubs. Enjoy the historic pictures below which are also on display at City Hall. Also visit the Plymouth Historical Society, for more information or stop in the Museum downtown for a first-hand look at our history.
