Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) and the University Medical Center (UMC) Cancer Center in Lubbock, Texas, are actively recruiting five Hematology and Oncology faculty physicians to join a growing, collaborative academic team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary program that is expanding to meet significant regional demand for cancer services.
We are seeking physicians with an interest in solid tumor oncology, especially disease-specific expertise in breast, lung, skin/melanoma, or sarcoma. General oncologists and hematologists are also encouraged to apply. We are accepting candidates now who will be available in 2026, including both new graduates and experienced oncologists.
Employment: Faculty position through TTUHSC; based at UMC Cancer Center
Tracks Available: Academic or Clinical
Clinic Location: 602 Indiana Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79415
Call Structure: Fellows take first call via Nurse On Demand system; faculty are second call
Inpatient/Outpatient Mix: Primarily outpatient, with inpatient responsibilities as needed
Telemedicine: In-office telemedicine available
Base Salary:
Assistant Professor: $500,000 (both Clinical and Academic tracks)
Associate Professor: $600,000
Professor: $650,000
Bonuses:
wRVU-based incentives (up to $50K annually on Academic track; uncapped on Clinical)
Sign-On Bonus: $100,000
Relocation Assistance: Up to $14,000

Retirement: Includes Teacher Retirement System (TRS)
Visa Support: O-1 and H1B visas accepted (J-1 support in progress)
EMR: Currently Cerner; transitioning to EPIC in early 2026
Academic Track: 5 half-day clinics/week + time for research, teaching, and admin
Clinical Track: 9 half-day clinics/week
Expectation to see ~10 patients per half-day session
Access to Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn Center, and broad specialty support
Involvement with medical students, residents, and fellows
Research opportunities available through TTUHSC
Participation in institutional and departmental committees encouraged

The TTUHSC/UMC Cancer Center in Lubbock, TX, is a collaboration between Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and University Medical Center. It provides advanced cancer care, research, and education to West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Key features include specialized clinics for high-risk breast and lung cancer and Centers of Excellence in lung and breast cancer.
