Venesco is recruiting multiple Psychiatrists to work at Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN. Your expertise can truly make a difference in the lives of those who serve our country!

Hours: Psychiatrists will work clinic hours Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with a half-hour lunch. They will also rotate on-call with other providers to assist inpatient services.

Duties:

Direct Patient Care: It is estimated that 95% of the time involved in direct patient care. Psychiatrists will be responsible for:

  1. Inpatient Care: All psychiatrists will be required to work in collaboration with Mental Health staff who are part-time or full time salaried by the VA for inpatient care duties including but not limited to:

1.1 Operating and collaborating physician’s patients

1.2 Seeing 1C/1D Psychiatry Service - Ward Patients.

1.3 Admitting

1.4. Diagnosis of patients

1.5. Developing Treatment Plans

1.6 Managing, including the performance of timely treatment

1.7 Discharge/Transfer

1.8 Including all needed medical record documentation

1.10 Seeing all new patient referrals with accompanying medical records

1.11 Seeing severely mental ill patients

1.12 Evaluation disposition E-consult

1.13 Post-discharged follow up

  1. Clinic and Residential Care: Shall provide clinical psychiatry services. Clinical duties include direct patient care. Psychiatrists shall operate the clinic, examine patients, and interpret reports as required by the VA. Contractor’s physician(s) shall be present and on time for any scheduled clinics as documented by physical presence in the clinic. The contractor's employees will be required to work with VA staff. Should clinic hours need to be changed, VA will provide the contractor a thirty-day advanced notice of the change. Approximate case load is as follows:

2.1. 6 to 6.5 patient bookable hours per day.

2.2. 6 patients for an hour each or roughly 12 patients for one half hour each; or any combination of one-hour and one-half hour appointment per day totaling 6 to 6.5 bookable patient hours per day.

  1. Peer Review: The contractor shall provide professional Psychiatry Service with Mental expertise for peer review of selected cases. This shall include, but not be limited to tort claims, patient family complaints, Mental Health case reviews, peer reviews, and Health case reviews, peer reviews, and benefit appeals.

Qualifications:

  1. Degree: Psychiatrists must be hold a degree as a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited university.
  2. Residency: Shall have completed a residency in Psychiatry.
  3. Board Certification: Shall be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  4. Licensure: Shall hold a current, unrestricted medical license from any of the 50 states or U.S. Territories.
  5. CME: Shall maintain current continuing medical education.
  6. Life Support Certifications: Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support courses approved by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
