Occupational Medicine Opportunity with established business

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Medicine Doctor to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing specialized medical care related to workplace health and safety, injury prevention, and the management of work-related illnesses. This role requires expertise in diagnosing, treating, and preventing work-related injuries and illnesses while ensuring compliance with occupational health regulations and promoting the overall well-being of employees.

• Provide medical care and treatment to employees for work-related injuries and illnesses, including musculoskeletal injuries, respiratory conditions, and exposure to environmental hazards.
• Conduct pre-employment, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty evaluations to ensure employees are physically capable of performing their job duties safely.
• Collaborate with employers, safety teams, and HR personnel to develop and implement strategies for improving workplace health and safety.
• Perform workplace injury assessments and recommend modifications or accommodations for employees when necessary.
• Monitor and assess employees' health risks related to workplace conditions, such as exposure to chemicals, noise, or repetitive motions.
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all patient interactions and treatments.
• Provide recommendations for workplace safety programs, ergonomic improvements, and health promotion initiatives.
• Assist in the development and implementation of company health policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, ADA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with specialists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals as needed for comprehensive care.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on health and safety matters, including injury prevention and wellness programs.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in occupational medicine, health regulations, and industry best practices.

• Must understand and be able to articulate the differences in assessment between the concepts of medical causation and those related to workers’ compensation
• May provide on-site medical coverage for the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program and Heart Failure Clinic.

Decatur General grew into a 273 bed acute care hospital with an additional 64 bed behavioral health facility, with a medical staff of more than 200 physicians and more than 1000 employees. Parkway Medical Center, also an acute care facility, became licensed for 120 beds, with a medical staff of 175 physicians and more than 400 employees. Each hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and together serve more than 250,000 people in 5 counties. Despite this growth, in early 2012, it became clear that there was a need for one unified, not-for-profit healthcare delivery system in Morgan County. Huntsville Hospital System, purchased Parkway Medical Center, and later entered into a lease arrangement with Decatur General to form Decatur Morgan Hospital. The entity currently has four locations in Morgan County - the Decatur General Campus, Parkway Campus, West Campus and the Danville Road Campus and there is room for continued facility growth.
