Pediatric Hospitalist - Louisville, Kentucky

Norton Children’s Hospital and the University of Louisville School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics are seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to join our growing practice in Louisville, Kentucky. The right physician will join our academic team that includes 30 Hospitalists, four Nurse Clinicians, and several administrative support staff members. All Norton Children’s Medical Group Hospitalists see general pediatric inpatients at Norton Children's Hospital, our free-standing, tertiary referral site as well as at Norton Women's and Children's Hospital, our nearby, suburban, community site. Many also care for general newborns at several local newborn nurseries, but we do not attend deliveries or care for NICU babies. All Hospitalists are involved in medical student and resident education as well as academic scholarship and opportunities for quality improvement, clinical operations, and freedom to pursue other academic interests with universal 20% protected academic time. Our group is home to many local, regional, and national leaders, turnover is very low, and our sense of family and collegiality is evident to all in Louisville Pediatrics.

Understanding the ongoing transition in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at this time, we are pleased to consider Board Certified, Board Eligible, and non-Board Eligible candidates equally.

The 20+ year old Pediatric Hospitalist program is part of the Norton Children’s Medical Group whose medical facilities serve more than 170,000 patients each year. Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital offers inpatient care including a 44-bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), a sleep center, a rehabilitation center and pediatric emergency services, plus specialized care for pediatric urology and gynecology patients. Norton Children’s Hospital serves as the primary pediatric teaching facility for the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine and has Louisville’s only Level 1 pediatric trauma center and one of the largest Level IV NICUs in the country.

About the position

  • Join an experienced and passionate Hospitalist group that places a high value on education, compassionate care and evidence-based medicine, and serves a diverse range of about 8,500 patients annually (including around 1500 patients at the community site).
  • Practice both on an academic teaching service as well as in community hospital medicine
  • All faculty enjoy protected academic time to pursue self-directed scholarly activities
  • Normal Newborn care may be an option, but not involving delivery attendance, NICU care, or emergency department presence
  • Participate in a relatively new PHM Fellowship program, innovative and highly respected Pediatric Residency Program, and perennial “student favorite” medical student education
  • Mold your career based on your clinical and academic interests while collaborating with a supportive team whose interests span topics such as global health, education, leadership, and education, many of whom have a strong national presence and reputation
  • Be a part of a group with a historically low turnover rate who serves a diverse patient range from urban, rural and international backgrounds. The group cares for more than 90 percent of all general pediatric medical inpatient cases at Norton Children’s Hospital and for nearly 100 percent at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

Requirements
