Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) and UMC Cancer Center are seeking a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join their growing academic program in Lubbock, Texas. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a highly collaborative and supportive team dedicated to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research.

Position Highlights:

• Academic rank and compensation commensurate with experience:

  • Assistant Professor: $200,000 – $225,000

  • Associate Professor: $244,000 – $275,000

  • Professor: $300,000 – $345,000

• Call Schedule:

  • Home call only with very infrequent in-person requirements

  • On call approximately 25% of the time

  • Nurse-triaged answering service

  • Fellows take first call during clinical rotations

• Weekly Schedule:

  • 9 half-days of outpatient clinical care and bedside/clinic teaching

  • 1 half-day of administrative time (adjusted for leadership duties such as Program Director or Medical Director)

• Patient Volume:

  • 7–10 patients per half-day clinic

The TTUHSC/UMC Cancer Center in Lubbock, TX, is a collaboration between Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and University Medical Center. It provides advanced cancer care, research, and education to West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Key features include specialized clinics for high-risk breast and lung cancer and Centers of Excellence in lung and breast cancer. The facility emphasizes multidisciplinary, patient-centered care with disease-specific tumor boards and dedicated nurses and financial navigators to support patients.

The center also offers an after-hours Symptom Management Clinic for patients, helping reduce ER visits. With a strong academic focus, the cancer center provides extensive teaching and research opportunities, including clinical trials and educational leadership roles. Expansion plans aim to enhance access to specialized care, making it a crucial resource for both West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
