Pediatric Hem/Onc Hospitalist - Join a Leading Children's Hospital

Children’s Minnesota is seeking Pediatric Hematology/Oncologist to join the Cancer and Blood Disorders program as full time hospitalist to provide on-site 24/7/365 coverage in our Minneapolis location.

Children’s Minnesota is the 10th largest Children’s Hospital in North America. Our pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders program is currently composed of over 200 dedicated professionals including 21 physicians and 15 nurse practitioners as well as nurse case managers, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists, dieticians, genetic counsellors, social workers, child life experts, interpreters, home care and hospice specialists.

Our hematology/oncology hospitalist program was established 6 years ago and is founded on the principle that sub-specialization in hospital-based hem/onc care will improve patient outcomes and experience. The hospitalist manages the inpatient services for hematology and oncology and responds to outpatient calls after hours. The hospitalist team collaborates and communicates with other hematology/oncology providers ensuring continuity between inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Our current team of hospitalists work approximately 7 nights and 5 days approximately every 5 weeks. Within this position, there are opportunities for program development and quality improvement work.

Children’s Minnesota is a teaching hospital to medical students, residents and fellows from the University of Minnesota and Mayo Clinic. Academic inquiry and research are highly valued, but not required. We have a strong clinical trial program with robust involvement in the Children's Oncology Group (COG) clinical trials.

Minneapolis/St. Paul

Minneapolis/St. Paul, often referred to as the Twin Cities, is the 16th largest metropolitan area in the United States and consistently ranks as one of the top ten most livable places.

The Twin Cities area offers a high quality of life, world class arts, excellent school systems, an award-winning culinary scene, vibrant culture, professional and college sports, outstanding year round recreation with a bounty of lakes and a half dozen downhill ski areas located within a one hour drive of the Twin Cities.

Minnesota is home to 10,000 lakes – and two thriving neighboring cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul. Both cities are filled with vibrant culture, history, sports and art. The Minneapolis-St. Paul region combines rich urban attractions with an exceptionally beautiful natural environment. The Twin Cities metro area is also a shopper’s delight, anchored by the nation’s largest mall, the Mall of America.

The Twin Cities offers a four-season climate similar to many Midwestern cities. Although Minneapolis is infamous for its cold winters, residents can stay warm with the Minneapolis Skyway, an indoor pedestrian walkway system that links many downtown buildings. The walkway spans 69 blocks and seven miles and is the longest continuous skyway system in the world. The coldest month of the year, January, has an average high temperature of 24 degrees, while the warmest month of July has an average high temperature of 83 degrees. Through all four seasons, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. Summer means boating and swimming on our multitude of lakes, and biking on abundant local trails – the same trails used by cross-country skiers in the winter. There are a half-dozen downhill ski areas within an hour drive. The metro area boasts nine state parks within its perimeter, along with over 150 golf courses — which cater to the highest number of golfers of any state.
