Opportunity Details:

Gotham Health, Brooklyn is a group of community-based practices located throughout North and East Brooklyn which are dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive and affordable primary care to every New Yorker regardless of ability to pay or immigration status, in the neighborhoods where our patients live and want to receive their care and in an atmosphere of humane care, dignity, and respect.

Brooklyn sites include neighborhood health centers with a focus on Internal Medicine/Adult Primary Care, Pediatrics/Adolescent Health, and Women’s Health.

Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Gotham Health and the Regional Medical Director for Gotham Health, Brooklyn, the Associate Medical Director for Gotham Health, Brooklyn would spend 50% of their time providing administrative oversight and support for the neighborhood health center sites under their purview and 50% of their time providing clinical care at one of those sites.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Leads and implements the clinical direction for sites under their purview and in alignment with Regional and Gotham-wide strategic direction.
  • Participates in site management, operational, fiscal and clinical quality strategy development and implementation.
  • In partnership with the CMO and the Regional Medical Director, designs, implements, and evaluates ongoing medical/clinical protocols to be followed in the site’s clinical practice areas.
  • Ensures adequate provider staffing is available for all clinical sessions and works with site and regional leadership in anticipation of future shortfalls. Addresses site provider needs and assists in Provider Staffing Plan and provider scheduling, as appropriate.
  • Helps to onboard, train, coach, and supervise providers under their direct supervision, in coordination with the Regional Medical Director and CMO; works with HR-Talent Acquisition and affiliate HR to recruit, screen and hire new providers under the direction of the CMO.
  • Monitors providers’ performance on key measures related to productivity and ensures provision of high quality of services.
  • Coaches and supports providers to meet productivity and Quality Measure targets and goals.
  • Monitors provider and site performance on Care Gap and Value-based payment (VBP) metrics and works with site care teams to identify gaps and implement solutions to drive improvement.
  • Completes annual performance evaluation for direct reports.
  • Participates in the Credentialing and Peer Review Committee(s) and related processes and maintains the confidentiality inherent to these processes.
  • Participates in Quality improvement committee, performs chart reviews, and implements performance improvement programs.
  • Builds and leverages cross-functional collaborative relationships with other Brooklyn, Gotham Health, and NYC Health + Hospital sites to achieve shared goals and standardization.
  • Maintains strong and current knowledge of evidence-based practice and appropriate licensure.
  • Coordinates with Supervisor of Nursing and Practice managers on related nursing needs and clinical/operational workflows.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff, creates and maintains effective interpersonal relationships, and consistently utilizes and facilitates strategies to encourage collaborative problem solving and decision making.
  • Onsite presence required for performance of all work duties.

 

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in a medical specialty (Internal or Family Medicine, preferred).
  • Current DEA registration (all schedules) and a minimum of a BLS certificate.
  • Competency in providing evaluation and treatment in ambulatory care.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism.
  • Experience in Federally Qualified Health Centers and/or an NCQA recognized Patient Centered Medical Home is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of state of the art medical scientific and treatment methods in area of specialty.
  • Understanding of current medical, educational, and psychosocial intervention procedures.
  • Ability to perform clinical duties within established guidelines in an organized, efficient manner.
  • Ability to relate and communicate well to all cultural and ethnic groups in the community including fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to complete and maintain records in accordance with procedures utilizing an electronic health record system.
  • General computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and patient medical record system(s).

 

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $244,000* based on a 40-hour work week.

The annual total value of compensation package is estimated at $268,400**, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:

  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
