Hospice Physician – Inpatient Staff Physician

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Staff Physician to join our hospice and palliative medicine team. In this pivotal role, you will directly impact patients’ quality of life by delivering outstanding end-of-life care in an interdisciplinary setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide physician services at our 6-bed inpatient hospice houses—ranging across Gaston, Newton, and Sherrills Ford.
  • Scheduled rounding on Thursdays and Fridays, plus 2 weekends per month (in-person rounds and on-call phone coverage).
  • Maintain medical staff privileges in hospitals within our service area.
  • Travel as needed (approximately 75% travel across hospice locations)
  • Collaborate closely with registered nurses, chaplains, and social workers in care planning and delivery.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO with an unrestricted NC medical license
  • Board Certified in a relevant specialty, with strong preference for hospice and terminal care experience
  • Certification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine preferred or must be completed within two years of hire
  • Minimum of 5 years post-board clinical experience, with at least 1 year in an interdisciplinary team environment (management/leadership experience preferred) 
  • Dedication to interdisciplinary patient-centered hospice care.
