About Us:

Our Area
Located in West Virginia's capital city, perfectly positioned at the confluence of the Kanawha and Elk Rivers. Thomas Memorial Hospital is part of a broad, integrated network of doctors, hospitals, clinics, and specialized institutes across West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and Ohio. It is also where three major interstates converge, making it a highly accessible destination for visitors looking for an affordable getaway. Charleston boasts the history you would expect of a capital city, but a growing arts scene and its riverside position makes it a hub for recreation and culture. West Virginia has some of the most beautiful landscapes on the east coast, with scenic mountains, dense wilderness areas, and fast running rivers that make the state a year-round playground for the outdoor enthusiast.

Our Hospitals
On January 1, 2007, Thomas Health System, Inc., purchased Saint Francis Hospital [333 Laidley St., Charleston, WV 25301]. The health system was formed to forge a partnership based on the strength of two established hospitals—Thomas Memorial and Saint Francis. Bringing the two hospitals under the umbrella of the Thomas Health System allows us to bring innovative and cost-effective health care to the Kanawha Valley. In November or 2022 The Boards of Directors of Thomas Health System, Thomas Memorial Hospital, and Saint Francis Hospital have approved and executed the definitive agreement that will allow Thomas Health to become a full member of the West Virginia University Health System.

As part of the agreement, Saint Francis Hospital will become West Virginia’s first full-service and comprehensive orthopaedic hospital with expanded inpatient, outpatient, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and skilled nursing all under one roof. The orthopaedic hospital will include a walk-in clinic as well as offices for orthopaedic, spine, and nerve physicians. Additionally, Saint Francis’ proximity to the recently announced Capital Sports Center near the Charleston Town Center Mall will make it convenient for athletes of all ages and skill levels to receive the care they need.
