Job Description

Pediatric/Clinical Psychologist Temple

Baylor Scott & White Health McLane Children's Medical Center in Central Texas is looking for a pediatric psychologist with expertise in autism and developmental disabilities to join our team within the section of Child Development. The primary focus of the position is diagnostic evaluation and assessment of children with autism, learning and behavioral difficulties. There also is an opportunity to provide evidence-based treatment. Applicants must have a PhD or PsyD in clinical child or pediatric psychology from an APA accredited graduate doctoral program and have completed an APA accredited internship in clinical child or pediatric psychology. Formal postdoctoral fellowship training in autism or related area of specialization is preferred.

Position Highlights:

Perform comprehensive evaluations for autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and learning disabilities
Proficiency with a wide range of psychological tests (e.g. ADOS-2 Modules 1-4, CARS-2, WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WIAT-4)
Ability to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including developmental pediatricians, speech therapists, and occupational therapists.
Texas license to practice psychology issued by the State Board of Examiners of Psychologist or license eligible in Texas
Preference for candidates with Board Certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) or whose professional trajectory includes board certification when eligible

About McLane Children's Medical Center:
Our five-story McLane Children’s Specialty Clinic is located next to our free-standing Children’s Hospital. The hospital features include 115 patient beds: 48 private medical/surgical rooms, 16 private Pediatric ICU rooms and a 24- hour, level II pediatric emergency department and verified trauma center equipped to deal with the most serious pediatric trauma cases. A level IV, 51 bed Neonatal ICU is located nearby on the main BSWMC, Temple campus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral degree in Child Clinical, Pediatric Psychology, or School Psychology (PhD or PsyD) from a university-based graduate program fully accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). Note: This requirement assumes completion of a one-year, pediatric-oriented pre-doctoral internship that is APA- or CPA-accredited, or its substantial equivalent, i.e., a member program of Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).
  • Texas license to practice Psychology issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP), or license-eligible in Texas. Note: This requirement assumes completion of one-year of Postdoctoral supervised training (1,750 hours), preferably from an APA-accredited Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Child Clinical or Pediatric Psychology or an APPIC-member program.  
  • Preference given to candidates who are Board-certified in Child Clinical or Pediatric Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), or whose professional trajectory includes board certification when eligible.
