Reporting to the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO), in collaboration with the Associate DIO (ADIO) and the Medical Director of the Orthopedic Service Line for Henry Ford Health, the Program Director (PD) of a Graduate Medical Education (GME) program is responsible for leading the program in accordance with its mission and ensuring the program is compliant with the specialty specific requirements outlined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and all Henry Ford Health Medical Education policies and procedures including responsibility, authority, and accountability for: administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; resident recruitment and selection, evaluation and promotion of trainees, disciplinary action; supervision of trainees; and trainee education in the context of patient care. It is expected that the Program Director will be engaged in clinical and administrative duties at the residency’s primary training site.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proven administrative skills in a GME program. Ability to ensure involvement and accountability in achieving specific outcomes from management, physicians and other staff. Ability to manage complex issues. Excellent teaching skills. Excellent communication skills.
Minimum Education:
Graduate of ACGME-accredited or AOA-approved residency
Minimum Experience:
Must meet requirements that are outlined by specific Residency Review Committee (RRC) requirements. At least three years' experience as an active faculty member in an accredited residency program with involvement in the administration and education of the program.
Certification/Licensure:
Current certification in the specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association.
Current valid State of Michigan License to practice medicine.
