The Community

Juneau, the Capital of Alaska, offers the ideal balance between true Alaskan wilderness and the comforts of a city. Nestled in a temperate rainforest between the lush mountains of the Inside Passage, Juneau is protected from harsh weather and boasts moderate year-round temperatures. A mere 15-minute drive from town, trails traverse the pristine Tongass National Forest, Mendenhall Glacier glistens blue between mountains, and opportunities for hiking, fishing, and whale watching abound. Juneau is the largest city in Southeast Alaska with a population of over 30,000 and offers more options for shopping, dining, and recreation. In summer, downtown Juneau bustles with activity from cruise ships: smells of delicious Alaskan delicacies served at restaurants waft through the air of the shop-lined streets where talented local artists and artisans sell their unique wares.
