Valley Health offers an outstanding opportunity allowing leadership of an osteopathic program and welcoming your vision and dynamic communication skills to complement our residency program.  Focus is emphasized on clinical teaching in an outpatient and inpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have experience leading an osteopathic program, hold Board-Certification in Family Medicine through the AOA and lead our six per class, three-year ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program. The program has 20+ year history and is based at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal, VA. Additionally, the program offers teaching as well at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Both hospitals are a part of Valley Health System in Winchester, VA. Warren Memorial Hospital is a 36-bed hospital and holds the Top 100 Teaching Hospital of the Year Award for two consecutive years and our program is Osteopathic recognized/certified with continuing accreditation.  WMH has been serving the community for over 70 years and recently opened a new $100 million modern hospital to meet the needs of a growing population of 40,000 residents. Winchester Medical Center is a 495-bed hospital with a Level II Trauma Center.

What You’ll Do

  • The Osteopathic Program Director must have certification through an American Osteopathic Association (AOA) specialty certifying board
  • Provide administration and maintenance of the education environment conducive to educating residents in OPP and the ACGME Competencies
  • Oversee and ensure the quality of osteopathic didactic and clinical education at all participating sites.
  • Osteopathic faculty members must actively participate in organized clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, or conferences, for designated osteopathic residents, with specific integration of OPP, including OMT.
  • At least annually, the Director of Osteopathic Education must evaluate osteopathic faculty member performance as related to the integration of OPP into the educational program

Qualifications

  • DO trained, with Board Certification in Family Medicine or Family Medicine with Obstetrics (FM/OB)
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical license in Virginia
  • Previous academic or teaching experience preferred
  • Passion for rural healthcare & medical education
