Infectious Disease Physician - West Los Angeles VAMC

The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) is seeking a dynamic and visionary physician to join our team in healthcare epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead innovative programs that span patient care, research, and education within a VA-based department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion and elevate antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention initiatives.
  • Utilize your expertise in data science and epidemiology to drive evidence-based practices.
  • Engage in meaningful outreach and expansion projects, including initiatives for Veterans receiving housing on the GLA campus.
  • Lead quality improvement efforts, enhancing patient outcomes across VAGLAHS.
  • Inspire, mentor, and educate the next generation of medical professionals.
  • Collaborate with top-tier interdisciplinary teams at VAGLAHS and UCLA, creating a network of excellence.

Qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Infectious Disease.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license
  • Preferred: Strong background in Internal Medicine, with substantial experience in infection prevention and/or epidemiology

 Academic and Research Opportunities:

  • Qualify for an academic appointment at UCLA at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level.
  • Receive support for research program start-up.
  • Engage in thriving research programs focusing on antimicrobial stewardship, hospital epidemiology, the intersection of HIV and comorbidities, microbial pathogenesis, rapid pathogen identification, staphylococcal infections, and viral hepatitis.
  • Explore numerous opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration with leading clinicians, educators, and researchers at VAGLAHS and UCLA.

Benefits and Features:  

  • Starting salary $265,000 – Negotiable, final salary recommendation will be
    based on breadth of experience and qualifications
  • PTO: 50–55 days of PTO annually (26/13 days of annual/sick leave, 11 holidays,)
