NORTON CHILDREN’S NEONATOLOGY, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and a part of Norton Children’s Medical Group, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible and fellowship-trained neonatologist. The practice is one of the largest neonatology groups in the country, with more than 30 neonatologists, as well as neonatal nurse practitioners, family nurse practitioners, pediatric hospitalists and other providers skilled at caring for newborns and babies with special conditions.

The neonatology program receives referrals from throughout Kentucky and Indiana at two neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), including one of the nation’s largest Level IV NICUs at Norton Children’s Hospital in downtown Louisville. Both NICUs combine elements of private practice with an academic model to foster collaborative relationships among neonatologists, providers, fellows, residents and trainees. Through various partnerships, outreach services also are provided at several Level II and Level III NICUs throughout the region. This position is located in Paducah, Kentucky, serving a licensed, Level III neonatal intensive care unit with 14 beds and a capacity of up to 20 beds. Norton Children’s Neonatology – Paducah provides in-house neonatal nurse practitioner coverage 24/7, and neonatologist coverage consisting of patient rounding and on-call coverage.

The facility averages 1,500 patient births and 3,500 patient days annually. As southwestern Kentucky’s only NICU, it provides high-tech neonatal care including sustained life support, prompt care to medical and surgical subspecialists, respiratory and ventilation support, advanced imaging and newborn nursery services. This Paducah facility also provides a robust regional neonatal transport service unique to southwestern Kentucky. Each patient transport is staffed by one respiratory therapist, two registered nurses and one nurse practitioner.
