The Opportunity

Provide comprehensive diagnostic medical services for patients and families across the lifespan, from birth through end-of-life, spanning a broad range of healthcare needs.

Clinical Imaging & Procedures

  • Perform or interpret diagnostic imaging procedures, including MRI, CT, mammography, ultrasound, and plain radiographs/X-ray.
  • Oversee the administration of contrast materials and respond to adverse drug reactions.
  • Perform interventional radiographic procedures, including biopsy, myelograms, and arthrograms.
  • Recognize and treat complications during and after procedures.
  • Compare procedures with other modalities (e.g., CT, ultrasonography, MRI, plain radiographs, angiography).

Interpretation, Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare comprehensive interpretive reports of findings.
  • Document the performance, interpretation, and outcomes of all procedures.
  • Check and approve the quality of diagnostic images.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate examination results and diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients, and families.
  • Obtain patient histories from EHR, patient interviews, dictated reports, or by communicating with referring clinicians.
  • Confer with medical professionals regarding image-based diagnoses.
  • Coordinate radiological services with other medical activities.
  • Review or transmit images and information using PACS.

Patient Education

  • Provide counseling to radiologic patients to explain processes, risks, benefits, and alternative treatments.

Quality, Safety & Standards

  • Develop or monitor procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images.
  • Develop and monitor protocols to ensure quality control of diagnostic images and procedures.
  • Establish or enforce standards for the protection of patients and personnel.
  • Establish and enforce radiation protection standards for patients and staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including discussions of high-risk areas.

Teaching & Professional Development

  • Instruct radiologic staff in techniques, positions, and projections.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to maintain and develop expertise.

Qualifications

  • Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, medical marijuana license holders who test positive for marijuana are not qualified.
  • Alignment with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values.
  • MD or DO from an accredited college or university.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-approved residency in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Additional fellowship in Breast Imaging preferred.
  • Unrestricted Oklahoma MD or DO license.
  • Board-certified by the American Board of Radiology or documentation of being in process of obtaining board certification.
  • Current CPR required, or must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
