Physician Obstetrics and Gynecology-Laborist

Job Summary

Geisinger, one of the premier tertiary medical systems on the east coast, serving the northeast and central Pennsylvania regions, is recruiting an OB Laborists/Hospitalist to join the team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical (GWV) Center, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will be a more seasoned candidate, great team player, experience working with midwives and enjoys co-managing with them. Opportunities exist for working with both medical students and residents. In this role you will focus on giving inpatient care to pregnant women, managing labor and delivery on both an emergency and routine basis. GWV has roughly 1900 deliveries per year. Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) is an acute care hospital that is licensed for 274 beds and houses the only Level II trauma center in Luzerne County. The campus includes the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center (which is being expanded and will feature 4 stories with an 18-bed inpatient unit), the Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital Pediatric Unit which consists of a level II NICU and a transplant program. Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre is GWV’s ambulatory campus. As one of the nation’s largest health services organizations, Geisinger serves more than 3 million residents throughout 45 counties in central, south-central and northeast Pennsylvania. The system is comprised of approximately 33,000 employees, including a 1,800-member multi-specialty group practice, 12 hospital campuses, two research centers and a 600,000-member health plan, and a commitment to medical education, research and community service.
