Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a BE/BC Palliative Care Physician for inpatient and outpatient services. Under the supervision of the Palliative Care Medical Director, the faculty member will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide excellent clinical care. The successful candidate will join a system-wide effort to ensure integrated palliative care, including developing and implementing clinical protocols and best practices across various patient populations.

  • Join a successful program that is Joint Commission Advanced Certified in Palliative Care
  • Consists of an interprofessional clinical team; physicians, APNs, RNs, and SWs who provide pain and non-pain symptom management and specialty palliative care for patients as they receive care from their primary care or treatment team
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the patient and family experience
  • Optimize resource utilization for complex medical and psychosocial barriers

Qualifications:

  • M.D./D.O. degree from a recognized Medical or Osteopathic School
  • Have or have the ability to obtain a New Jersey Medical License 
  • Hospice & Palliative Medicine (HPM) board-eligible/certified, with fellowship training OR 2 years experience in HPM field beyond board certification (Will consider 2026 palliative fellowship graduates for candidacy)
  • Interest in education and building a palliative care fellowship program
  • Strong clinical and collaborative skills 
  • Ability to balance emotionally challenging situations in the context of serious medical illness and assess, evaluate, plan, and implement care in complex and life-limiting situations
  • Must be capable of offering specialized knowledge and skill to all members of the health care staff
  • Team-oriented with the ability to provide personalized patient care as well as family support and demonstrate clinical outcomes

 

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The minimum base salary for this position is $256,271. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good-faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

Education and Certifications: Degrees attained, residencies, fellowships, board certifications, research, and publications.

Productivity: Levels of productivity, quality and patient satisfaction.

Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.

Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.

Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the specialty and/or sub-specialty.

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. 

 

In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. The final compensation and benefits package will be discussed during the interview process.
