We are recruiting for a full-time BE/BC Non-Invasive Cardiologist at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center.  

  • Seeking an all-around outstanding cardiologist who is a team player, interested in joining a close-knit department to work in a truly integrated cardiac center and multi-disciplinary collaborative environment.
  • 50% Cardiac MRI
    • Shared reading of the cardiac MRI studies done at SF Kaiser (high % of congenital cases)
    • Sole responsibility for supervising and reading cardiac MRI studies from 3-4 smaller hospitals with smaller CMR volumes and less experienced techs
    • Leadership role for the cardiac MRI group (11 cardiologists and radiologists), to include quality control, technologist training, protocol development, starting new efforts like incorporating AI
    • We are looking for someone with a strong interest and technical background in cardiac MRI, with at least 5 years of clinical practice, with a proven record of leadership skills (developing new programs). 
    • Thorough understanding of the cardiac pulse sequences used in Siemens and GE is highly desirable.
  • 50% could be one or a combination of General Cardiology, Structural Heart Imaging, or ACHD (these areas are flexible but cardiac MRI is a must)
  • Position is with The Permanente Medical Group, an 10,000 physician-run medical group in Northern California.
  • KP San Francisco is one of the tertiary cardiac hubs taking referrals from over 20 medical centers in the Kaiser integrated network of hospitals in Northern California (>4.5 million patient members) and has been named one of the top 50 cardiac hospitals in the country by US World and News Report.
  • Our department and hospital perform > 800 PCIs/year, >1000 cardiac surgeries, >500 TAVR, Mitral, Tricuspid and other structural heart interventions.
  • At Kaiser SF we have an active clinical trials unit-- #2 enroller in EVOLVE short DAPT trial, #3 enroller in the COAPT trial (MitraClip in functional MR), PARTNER 3 (low risk TAVR), SCOUT transcatheter tricuspid valve repair, APOLLO transcatheter mitral valve replacement, REDUCE-LAP for HFpEF, CLASP IID/F, ALLIANCE, ACURATE, LAPLACE early feasibility and more.
  • Our department is home to Kaiser Northern California regional programs in complex coronary interventions, structural interventions, multi-modality imaging, adult congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension; many among the largest programs in the country.
  • We have a medicine residency and cardiology fellowship (9 total fellows), so teaching and mentoring are integral to the job.

Full-time annual salary range is $426,839 to $440,040 plus additional potential incentives up to $67,540*. Reduced schedules with pro-rated compensation may be available. *Some incentive opportunities are estimates based on potential premium pay.

Requirements:

  • Board Certification or Eligibility
  • Must be eligible to obtain a California medical license or be currently licensed to practice within California
  • Noninvasive or Invasive Cardiology Fellowship required
  • Pacemaker device implantation skills/training required for some roles
