Director (Chief), Division of Anatomic Pathology – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, NJ

RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, are seeking a Director (Chief) for the Division of Anatomic Pathology. This leadership role provides the opportunity to oversee clinical, research, and academic programs, guide faculty and residents, and advance the Division of Anatomic Pathology at a premier academic medical center within New Jersey’s largest integrated health care system.

The minimum salary for this position if hired to work is $310,000 per year. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills, and professional experience.

Posting Summary

The Division Chief will serve as the leader of the Division of Anatomic Pathology, achieving clinical, research, and academic programmatic goals while overseeing all aspects of anatomic pathology services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) — the school’s 650-bed tertiary care core teaching hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, and partner of the Cancer Institute of NJ, an NCI-Designated Cancer Treatment Center.

This role requires a creative and innovative leader to implement initiatives that support the growth of the Division, including surgical pathology, cytopathology, autopsy pathology, and immunohistochemistry services. The Division Chief will provide guidance to faculty and residents for educational and research missions, while also maintaining responsibilities for patient care, teaching, research, and service to the institution.

The Division Chief is accountable for leadership, communication, and team collaboration within the laboratory and will advise the Clinical Director on specialty issues. Responsibilities include oversight of clinical governance, quality assurance, and accreditation, as well as the development of new services. The Division Chief will support the mission of Rutgers Health and RWJBarnabas Health to provide hope, healing, and the best care for patients and their families.

Position Highlights

· Lead and manage all aspects of the Division of Anatomic Pathology

· Oversee surgical pathology, cytopathology, autopsy pathology, and immunohistochemistry services

· Guide faculty and residents in clinical, educational, and research missions

· Ensure clinical governance, quality assurance, and accreditation compliance

· Provide patient care services while supporting institutional and system-wide missions

· Implement strategic initiatives to grow and enhance the Division’s programs

Requirements

· MD, DO, or MBBS degree required

· Board certification or board eligibility in AP/CP

· Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and academic experience
