Duke Geriatrics and Palliative Care seeks a Geriatrician to expand our consultative services at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Our clinicians diagnose and treat geriatric syndromes, providing enhanced patient care for those with serious illnesses and complex health needs. This Duke School of Medicine faculty physician role entails:

  • Comprehensive geriatric assessments, including cognitive testing, gait and functional assessments, and depression screening
  • Active collaboration with social work, interprofessional teams, and local resources to support patients and their caregivers
  • Participation in education of health professionals and trainees in clinical settings

Duke’s Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care offers:

  • Clinical program development, interprofessional clinical education, and quality improvement initiatives to facilitate promotion and career advancement
  • Engagement with the Interprofessional Education Center and Duke AHEAD, which provides support for clinician educators
  • Internationally recognized clinical, research, and education programs
  • Geriatric Evaluation and Treatment (GET) clinic, one of the oldest continually operating geriatric assessment clinics in the United States

We seek candidates with a MD/DO degree, fellowship trained and board certified or board-eligible in Geriatrics, and board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. This new Duke faculty member will be comfortable practicing geriatrics in different settings of care, interested in developing clinical processes and efficiency, deepening inter-professional collaborations, and establishing high quality value-based clinical programs.
