The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), in partnership with Rutgers Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health System, is seeking a highly qualified gastroenterology-trained hepatologist for an open-rank faculty position in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Position Highlights

  • Primary practice sites:
    • Ambulatory Medical Pavilion outpatient clinic (state-of-the-art facility)
    • Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) at the Rutgers New Brunswick campus
  • Opportunities for teaching and mentorship with gastroenterology fellows, residents, and students
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Building and growing an outpatient Hepatology clinical practice
    • Inpatient service coverage on the Hepatology Service at RWJUH
    • Outpatient and inpatient endoscopy procedures (RWJUH or nearby ambulatory surgery centers)
    • Medical education at both undergraduate (UME) and graduate (GME) levels
  • Research opportunities in clinical, translational, or basic science medicine
  • Candidates with liver transplantation training will have the opportunity to:
    • Serve as an attending hepatologist (inpatient and outpatient)
    • Participate in the Liver Transplantation Program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (Newark, NJ)—a nationally recognized program with the highest one- and three-year patient and graft survival rates in the country

Qualifications

  • Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Training focused on Hepatology during fellowship or completion of a PGY-7 Transplant Hepatology fellowship
  • Commitment to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research
  • Interest in education-focused or administrative leadership positions (available based on candidate expertise)
