SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - St. Louis is seeking a Breast Surgeon to step into a high-impact, leadership-ready role within one of the region’s most active and respected breast programs. This is a rare opportunity to inherit and grow a well-established practice following the retirement of a long-tenured surgeon, offering immediate access to a strong referral base, experienced staff, and consistent case volume.

Join the second busiest breast program in the St. Louis region, where you’ll practice in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients across the continuum of breast care. This role also offers a faculty appointment with Saint Louis University School of Medicine, blending clinical excellence with academic engagement.

Why This Role Stands Out
  • Turnkey practice with dedicated breast-trained team and infrastructure already in place
  • Predominantly outpatient practice supporting strong work-life balance
  • Opportunity to shape and lead the next chapter of a respected program
  • Integrated care model with on-site medical and radiation oncology collaboration

Practice Overview

Clinical Scope & Environment
  • Primarily outpatient breast surgery practice
  • Robust and growing patient population
  • Seamless access to multidisciplinary oncology services within SSM Health
Practice Infrastructure
  • Fully equipped, on-campus clinic with 3 exam rooms and private office
  • Dedicated breast surgery nurse practitioner
  • Highly experienced, breast-focused support staff
  • Established and expanding referral network

Your Role

Clinical Excellence
  • Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based breast surgical care
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered treatment across the care continuum
  • Collaborate closely with oncology, radiology, and pathology teams
Academic Engagement
  • Faculty appointment with Saint Louis University School of Medicine
  • Teach and mentor residents, medical students, and trainees
  • Participate in clinical education, case discussions, and potential research initiatives
Multidisciplinary Leadership
  • Active participation in tumor boards and care coordination
  • Partner across specialties to drive high-quality outcomes
  • Contribute to program growth, innovation, and quality improvement

What We’re Looking For
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery
  • Fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology (or equivalent experience)
  • Passion for multidisciplinary, patient-centered cancer care
  • Interest in teaching, mentorship, and academic collaboration
  • Strong communicator and team-oriented leader

This is an exceptional opportunity for a breast surgeon seeking clinical autonomy, academic involvement, and program leadership - all within a supportive, mission-driven health system committed to excellence in cancer care.
