Children’s Minnesota is seeking a fellowship trained Pediatric Infectious Disease physician

to join a growing practice. The Pediatric Infectious Disease program includes nine dedicated physicians and one dynamic nurse practitioner, and boasts a strong collaborative approach where clinical practice, decision-making, and sub-sub-specialty interests are encouraged. The PID (pediatric infectious diseases) program cares for children with acute and chronic infectious disorders in the greater area of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, as well as those from eastern North Dakota and northern Iowa.

The PID group practices at Children's Minnesota's two hospital-based sites in Minneapolis and St. Paul. These sites include large neonatal and pediatric ICUs and a large and growing Cardiovascular ICU with a heart transplant program. Additionally, Children’s is home to Minnesota’s primary perinatal and pediatric HIV care program.

Providers are responsible for inpatient and outpatient infectious disease consultations and ongoing care for patients with a broad variety of acute and chronic infectious conditions. Work collaboratively with talented hospitalist medicine and emergency medicine providers, along with a full complement of pediatric medical and surgical specialists. Additional partners include a robust Immunology program, which includes two physicians and one nurse practitioner.

The PID group serves as principal participants in the Antimicrobial Stewardship program, which includes one dedicated provider from the team, a dedicated Pediatric Infectious Disease PharmD, and a multidisciplinary working committee.

The PID group also works closely with the Infection Prevention and Control team, with one dedicated provider who provides clinical consultative expertise. The group also works closely with the Value and Clinical Excellence department by engaging in quality improvement projects, including clinical guideline development.

The Children’s Hematology and Oncology program is expanding to CAR-T therapy in the coming years, and particular expertise and interest in the infectious disease interface with these patients is desired.

Children’s Minnesota serves a diverse patient population and is committed to continuous improvements in equity and diversity, including high-level leadership and institutional support. The diverse population includes several large immigrant populations, which also provides a rich environment for practice involving global health and travel.

Minneapolis/St. Paul

Minneapolis/St. Paul, often referred to as the Twin Cities, is the 16th largest metropolitan area in the United States and consistently ranks as one of the top ten most livable places.

The Twin Cities area offers a high quality of life, world class arts, excellent school systems, an award-winning culinary scene, vibrant culture, professional and college sports, outstanding year round recreation with a bounty of lakes and a half dozen downhill ski areas located within a one hour drive of the Twin Cities.

Minnesota is home to 10,000 lakes – and two thriving neighboring cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul. Both cities are filled with vibrant culture, history, sports and art. The Minneapolis-St. Paul region combines rich urban attractions with an exceptionally beautiful natural environment. The Twin Cities metro area is also a shopper’s delight, anchored by the nation’s largest mall, the Mall of America.

The Twin Cities offers a four-season climate similar to many Midwestern cities. Although Minneapolis is infamous for its cold winters, residents can stay warm with the Minneapolis Skyway, an indoor pedestrian walkway system that links many downtown buildings. The walkway spans 69 blocks and seven miles and is the longest continuous skyway system in the world. The coldest month of the year, January, has an average high temperature of 24 degrees, while the warmest month of July has an average high temperature of 83 degrees. Through all four seasons, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. Summer means boating and swimming on our multitude of lakes, and biking on abundant local trails – the same trails used by cross-country skiers in the winter. There are a half-dozen downhill ski areas within an hour drive. The metro area boasts nine state parks within its perimeter, along with over 150 golf courses — which cater to the highest number of golfers of any state.
